Day 23 |

Day 23 The Fullness of the Spirit “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” (Malachi 3:10) |

This last promise in the Old Testament tells us how abundant God’s blessing will be. Pentecost was only the beginning of what God was willing to do. The promise of the Father, as Christ gave it, still waits for its perfect fulfillment. What is it that we have to ask for, and what should we expect? Christ’s great command to go and preach the Gospel was not only meant for the disciples, but for us, too. Christ’s last promise to His disciples, that they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit, was also meant for us. It is the grounds for the confident assurance that our prayers will be heard. Take time today to think of the needs of the Church and her missionaries. Let us realize that the only solution to our problems is the super-natural, almighty intervention of the Lord Himself. He must rouse His hosts for the great battle against evil. No other matter can be so important as to pray for the ministers of the Gospel, and for all His people, that God would endue them with power from on high to make the gospel the power of God unto salvation. When you connect the prayer for the Church on earth with the prayer for the power of God in heaven, you will feel the great truths of the heavenly world and the kingdom of God taking possession of you. You will ask what God is longing to give to all of His children whose hearts are entirely yielded to Him in faith and obedience. Lord, I pray for the richness of Your blessings on me and on all Your children. What is God saying to you right now? Jot down those thoughts and pray them back to Him. This devotion was taken from: Daily in His Presence; October 28; by Andrew Murray with Bruce Wilkinson |
